Stardust

Clear night, so I decided to have another go at this astro-photography thing. Drove out of town to a car park in the Pentlands, walked away from the road for quite a while. Quite nice walking along in the moonlight...
Found a spot and started shooting, but not really getting anything that great, mainly because the moon is so bright, then the clouds started rolling in and I gave up and trudged back to the car.
Drove home. Saw just as many stars from the back garden. Sigh.

I took this one deliberately focusing on the tree, not the stars - by being out of focus the stars look bigger and you can really see the colours. What's really surprising when you look at the images is that the stars are all different colours. Somehow, when you look at them with the naked eye that's less obvious. The light in the bottom right is actually moonlit clouds.
