Masterchef?

Today my mate Stevo was coming round to look at our leaky porch. Even though his visit would only 20 minutes or so, I decided this was reason enough for me to take day off. Seeing as I am due over 120 hours in lieu back from the company, I thought today is as good as any other day.

I spent my morning in bed, finishing season 8 of Frasier and playing my favourite kindle game.

My research from the other day was put to good use this afternoon, after a trip to asda for essential supplies, I went about preparing a feast for the house hold.

First off, Lamb Hotchpot, a lamb and vegetable broth. This was by far the best thing I made today, it was absolutely delicious. I prepared all the ingredients and left them in my slow cooker for 8 hours. Sadly due to my lazy morning, mentioned above, the soup would not be ready until after 9pm, so in stead of a starter it was a late night snack. Bloody brilliant snack too!

Our main course was my famous Spag Bol. The problem with this is, I am terrible with my portion sizes, so I made far too much. The problem was easily solved as it means my lunch for tomorrow is left over Spag bol. Good times.

For dessert I tried a new ice cream recipe. Chocolate honeycomb. Sadly it hasn't worked out exactly as I hoped. I followed the recipe exactly, but it hasn't set properly. I'm hoping an overnight stint in the freezer will help.

While my soup was slow cooking, and my ice cream was attempting to freeze, I had a wander into the city centre for a mooch around the shops. My work gave every staff member a £50 voucher for Marks & Spencers, so I went about trying to spend it. After spending two hours in town, I came home with a new pair of slippers. And that's all. I don't need much else from Marks and Spencers. I am a tad shamed to admit that I spent far too much time in the home ware department. Long gone are the days when a trip to town meant, going to the virgin megastore, then HMV to look at DVD's. Then McDonalds, then probably back to HMV.

Being in your thirties means looking in shops like Lakeland and getting genuinely excited about a 4 slice toaster, or a fancy blender, or a new ice cream scoop. (Which I purchased, only £5 down from £12.) If my twenty year old self could see me now he'd be sick, but that's probably cos he'd had too much to drink. Silly drunken 20 year old Andy.
