Istanbul Loves an Art launch apparently (or the free wine, or both). The Istanbul Modern was packed last night for the launch of the 'Neighborhood' exhibit. Learnt that the Istanbul art/gallerist community is split over the treatment of the Gezi protests: one half giving out free prints and books documenting what happened, the other selling their work - and being condemned for exploiting the protest for financial gain. The man making the argument for providing 'visual truth' about Gezi for free is also the son of a famous artist and didn't seem as if he had ever spent too long thinking about how to pay the bills.
