The Cathedral Rises...

A Shimmering beauty, reflected. Good in LARGE

For me, and as a Salisbury photographer, a shot of a lifetime – ‘officially’, here, now the worst flooding in living memory. Considerably more water than five days ago.. Lots of talk and jokes about Noah.

Worth the clomping the mile there in wellies, wading deep for another 1/3rd of a mile, nowhere to put down anything not being used (tripod bag, rucksack etc) as one stood in 5 inches of water, all quite tricky, but being methodical helped...Getting a tripod level when you can't see the end of the legs is always a bit annoying...

Got a couple before the floodlights went off, another was of just the Cathedral and its reflection, taken from the gate – somehow, by stepping back and including the gate to the meadow, made it look much more water-logged and with the branches, added a frame – it was a difficult choice. Swans had replaced the usual sheep - but they're both white - just coincidence, I guess... See sheep under stars taken from the same place.

Then the slow, steady wade back to dry ground and then the mile’s clomp home.

Lens is the excellent little Tamron SP 17-50mm f2.8

Exposure was for the Cathedral, so much subsequent shadow extraction.

My recent inkblot sunrise Blip , also taken during the Floods, has now become my second highest favourited Blip, ever, thanks again, very much appreciated! It even got to the top of the Favourites folder!
