For you, Mummy

Orla made a card for me today. On the front it said "To Mum, from Orla" and on the back she drew a heart. In the middle was this lovely picture. It's us on holiday on a tropical island. I'm lying on a sun lounger at the front of the picture, Orla is sitting on a deckchair in the shade, Conor is in a baby seat and Ed is standing with his arms out. She asked her dad to sit very still so that she could draw him :)

Orla has been complaining of leg pains for a week or so, particularly in her left hip. This morning she said that her leg was sore behind her knee and that she couldn't straighten her leg. So I called the GP and got an emergency appointment at 9am. The doctor thought it was probably nothing, but because complaints about leg pains can be indicative of quite serious conditions, she sent us to Yorkhill.

We were seen very quickly and efficiently at Yorkhill, including a thorough examination and an x-ray. Orla was a bit of a drama queen, which was by turns funny and mortifying! The upshot is that she seems to be fine and it's probably related to a virus she had about 3 weeks ago. We've to keep an eye on her and take her back next week if necessary, but hopefully it won't be.

We were dealt with so quickly at Yorkhill that we were back before lunchtime, so I took her to school. I had a word with the school nurse who's going to keep an eye on her and let me know if she complains about leg pains at school.

This is what Conor got up to at Gran and Papa's today!
