Carpark view
Thunder and lightning during the night. I always leap out of bed to pull out the TV plugs and aerials since we live on top of a hill, but the storm was short lived and it was just the rain that went on for ever.
N and I drove down to Dorchester as I had a dental appointment. The road was clear and the worst part were the lanes around us as far as flooding was concerned. The church at Charminster has been flooded with several inches of water and the watermeadows around Dorchester were just one large lake with a few swans sailing by.
This block of flats looks pretty solid but they front on to the very centre and top of the town and have a good view of the statue of Thomas Hardy and the High Street. It was just good to take something stable and firm after all the thousands of gallons of water we have passsed and there is more rain to come! The waves have broken over Chesil Beach and the sea wall at Chiswell on Portland which means more flooding of people's homes. Muchelney in the Levels is completely cut off as it was last year and boats or large tractors are the only method of transport there. When will it end?!
