River Ducks

I took a moment to notice these ducks near the river's edge. With perfect plumage...( mottled purple glossed with green, violet and rose), these little creatures glide on top of the drab river water along the snowy edge. Tropical birds cannot rival their imperial dyes.

The sharpness of this shot is blurred by motion and the drooping branches that throw their shadows over the scene. A mistake - but I like it, because it has the feel of a landscape out of a dream.

(Technical details: to achieve this blurred motion effect, hold the camera in one hand and in the other, two leashes holding back anxious, wild dogs. )
