Police Scotland Day 276 - Hogmanay

Police Officers and Police Horses are pictured at the Hogmanay celebrations in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.

The residents of Stonehaven see in the New Year in a memorable way with the Fireballs Ceremony. The ceremony begins at midnight on Hogmanay and consists of local people of all ages swinging flaming wire cages around their heads, this symbolises the bad spirits from the old year being burnt off so the spirits for the new year can come in clean and fresh.

Spectators can be vulnerable which is why crowd control at the event is so important.
