Unlikely Meetings, Mostly

I went to The Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie to have a chat with artist, Ally Wallace, (left) about his new exhibition, called Connected Parts.

He was still in the middle of installing it in two of the rooms at the gallery. We'd a great chat. If only artists were around to talk to at every exhibition...

As we blethered, who should walk in, but acclaimed Scottish artist and writer, Alasdair Gray?

He pronounced Ally's work 'very jolly'.

Big smiles around - although I'm not sure that is the description Ally was looking for!

Alasdair was at the gallery handing in a painting for the Glasgow Group show, which is opening at the same time Connected Parts (Friday night). Alasdair was a founding member of the Glasgow Group, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2009.

I'm writing about Ally's exhibition for this Saturday's Herald arts section. As usual, still thinking... deadline looming though, so will need to turn the thinking into copy.
