A noisy 6 months ahead
The last few days have contained a lot of banging and smashing. Ironically, I'd commented to my husband as we lay in bed listening to it at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning that although it sounded close we'd probably not be able to see it as Phnom Penh is such a densely built city that such things get hidden until they rise above the tallest thing nearby.
However, I was wrong. When we looked outside the window today, we could see exactly what was happening. And not only will we have to live with the noise, but it is likely we will end up with another enormous high rise towering right next to us.
On a more positive note, I am fascinated by the demolition process, not least because I can't get over my disbelief of people demolishing a house in flip flops and baseball caps.
