"tea for...."
A New Year which will bring with it many changes....
The best thing about being home for Christmas is family time, and so what better way to start 2014 than with some quality family time with mum and dad. As a treat I had booked afternoon tea for us in what has to be one of the most picturesque hotels in the province - The Lough Erne Golf Resort, home of the G8 summit back in June. Mum and dad had driven in to look at the outside of the hotel many times but they had never crossed the doorway! Today they did just that!
After sniffing several different types of tea leaves and waiting on a 3min tea-timer,(?!) we could finally enjoy 3 different types of tea - a fruit tea, chai tea and an irish cream tea which tasted like chocolate! And all this before we even got to try the food, which included perfectly made scones, chicken and white peach sandwiches, smoked salmon on honey and walnut bread and all these amazing sweet treats! The profiterole was a favourite for all of us! It was such an amazing experience and I loved sharing it with mum and dad, making them feel special, even if it was for just a few hours.
But before long we were back on the home sofa in front of the fire watching the hotly anticipated return of Benedict Cumberbatch onto our TV screens as Sherlock!!! 90mins later and I'm still confused as to how he faked his own death! However, like Dr Watson, I doubt we'll ever know!! haha!
