This magnificent Ming? Vase is the centrepiece in the foyer of The Beardmore Hotel and Conference Centre , Clydebank.
The hotel and adjacent Golden Jubilee Hospital are built on the site of Sir William Beardmore's shipbuilding and engine works.
Explorer Ernest Shackelton was once on the Beardmore payroll and subsequently Sir William provided a £7,000 loan! to help fund the 1909 Antartic Expedition. The Beardmore Glacier was named after Sir William giving him global immortality.
