It might not have turned into the gay Doonesbury I'd hoped for, but one thing I did want was for the characters to be as "normal" as real people - including dating and aging and so on. Most gay comics that I'd read were really overwrought, and nobody seemed to be having any fun just being gay, or, gasp, actually enjoying their sexuality. Tad and Frank liked each other and wanted to get naked - I won't post all of them, but I think that's about all they did for a month or so was make eyes at each other. I even drew a picture of them buck naked and going at it for a person who emailed and asked for it. Gross. Heh.
