The Hamilton Family Centre

This afternoon Sol and I were booked in to help volunteer at the Hamilton Family centre in downtown San Francisco. This centre is one of the many support groups for families affected by poverty in the city. They have emergency housing on site for people that find themselves out on the streets for whatever reason. The great thing about this place is the community vibe, we met a lovely guy who volunteered with us that use to be a resident himself and has since come back to help others.

This Saturday was the day we were needed over the holidays, so we got stuck into our kitchen duties for meal time. We we're put in charge of making sure everyone got a piece of pie and here you can see us both sporting our fashionable hair nets! An enjoyable experience and great bunch of volunteers! I got a few giggles from children that thought my London accent was funny whilst asking if they wanted any more apple pie.
