Ocean Spray...
OK, it's not the ocean, but 'English Channel' doesn't quite trip off the tongue so readily...
Bournemouth Pier, about 3.30 p.m, Tamron SP 70-300mm at full zoom and max aperture - but to get a usable shutter speed, look at that huge iso figure...! Camera on monopod - allows a certain stability but allowing fast running and moving out the way of rogue waves that literally swept in, taking all by surprise.
Yes, lots of added contrast and unsharp mask and selective brightness/contrast, to get as much detail as possible. Do look LARGE!
I stayed dry, others fared less well, tripping up over backwards and getting soaked - I really had to feel for the guy doing a selfie - I watched from the clifftop as he propped his compact up on a post and as he ran onto the beach to pose, the wind whipped his camera away....
Monopods are also useful, when one's nice Goretex baseball cap escapes from your head and sidewinds across the wooden slats on the entrance to the Pier (which was closed) faster than you can chase it, as you can literally skewer it from a distance with the rubber tip!
Took ages to get back by bus in the dark, roads flooded, diversions, traffic lights where one side of the main road was under feet of floodwater and the River Avon in places has seemingly taken on the might of the Mississippi....
Cooking dinner now! Hope you all had a safe and dry day!
Huge thanks to ALL who viewed, favourite and commented on my inkblot sunrise Blip yesterday. It remained at the top of Spotlights for 15 hours and now is my fifth most hearted blip. I usually like to thank all individually who give their hearts, on their own journals but this time I'm going to have let that slip.
