Not an Original.

Mrs TD and I went to Boots to see what their print service was like. We weren't impressed. Having carefully optimised my photographs according to artistic criteria, I take offence when a machine crops my prints to fit its pieces of paper and then, to add insult to injury, "enhances" the colours and contrast. This, of course, happens after the camera has also had its go at optimisation before saving the picture to the memory card as a .JPG, a process over which the photographer does have some control. If you take the alternative approach and shoot RAW, then it can be assumed that you wish to have absolute control over the final product.
The reason for carrying out the experiment is that my own printer does the same thing, although I can over-ride some of these features, but the results are still quite erratic.
I will now go back to researching printers.

Nothing is ever simple, Herself wanted to go to the collapsed furniture emporium for a plastic box, so we trotted along to make our selection; we felt duty bound to sample the coffee bar there rather than the restaurant which serves beverages which Douglas Adams described as "almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea." The bar actually served quite good drinks and cakes, so that was the major success of the day.

On the way to the plastic box department we inspected mattresses, desks, carpets and other sundry goods though, as my back has been giving me some problems, I walked round in circles during the inspections; I completely fail to understand why standing causes absolute agony while walking, or even carrying heavy loads, is almost comfortable.

The day's disaster was that my camera was left safely on the living room table and so I had to resort to using my mobile phone to take possible blips; trying to use it as a camera is only marginally better than trying to use my camera as a mobile phone. So, for the first and, I hope, the only time:
