Loudly confident
Of its place in
The history of the London skyline
Is diminished
On a wintry afternoon
By the vast
Turbulent
Clouds.

I was excited about the Shard as it was being built, despite it being just the latest in a series of phallocentric, probably unnecessary, architecture in London. However, it has disappointed me - where's the eponymous shard of glass that was to be so breathtaking? - and it looks well, ordinary, just on a mega scale. I'm sure the views are fantastic but will I pay to scale its heights one day ....???
