Hutoft Bank Pit
There are about 87 nature reserves in Lincolnshire managed by the Lincolnshire Wildlife trust so this year I thought I would see how many I could visit.
This is the largest of the Sea Bank Clay Pits that provided clay for the sea bank repairs after the 1953 floods. There are 10.10 acres of marsh/wetland attracting water rail, bittern, grebes, waders warblers and 15 species of duck have been recorded there.
It was a lovely sunny morning but the water was very quiet with only a few mallard and one lonesome Brent Goose. A Kestral posed too far away for my lens but I liked the way the sun lit up the reeds and willows.
