Not a Green Flash
Living near the ocean (about 12 miles as the crow flies) allows frequent opportunities to get exercise while taking in the beautiful views. We often park the car and walk a particular route along the beach and pier, eyes always open for the appearance of a school of dolphins or a wayward whale. There is usually a stop at a local place for a cold IPA and an appetizer, as we watch the impending sunset.
I've never seen a green flash, and this photo is certainly not one either. I have since learned that green flashes are real, astronomical and optical phenomena which are difficult for a novice to see. I distilled the internet tips on increasing your odds down to two specific points: be in the right location, and practice by looking at many sunsets. Sounds like good advice to me!
