After a wee festive break, Absent Voices are back in business!

Happy New Year one and all. There's a few things happening in Scotland this year, but keep your eyes on Absent Voices, as new beginnings are always in the offing.

Artist, Alec Galloway, whose family worked for generations in the sugar industry in Greenock, is one of the driving forces behind Absent Voices. Over Christmas, he discovered this book in his sister's house.

She picked it up in a charity shop. It's set in the Tate & Lyle factory in London during World War Two, but there's a lot of similarities between London and Greenock, says Alec, particularly regarding conditions in the factories.

Looks like a good read...
