Day 5: A Day of Contrasts

We drove to D's for brunch this morning and brought the kids their Christmas presents. It was good to spend time with them and catch up on their lives. In the late afternoon I went to the wake for Tracey's mother. I was struck by the emotional contrast in these two situations: the exuberance of two lively young children as they opened their gifts, and the grief of a young woman who lost her mother to a prolonged illness.
