Hairy and his Mini Me
Increase the similarity in large.
In the foreground we have the male hairy woodpecker waiting for his turn at the nearby suet feeder. A few inches into the background is the much smaller female downy woodpecker. (They look almost identical, other than their size.)
The birds were all loading up on anything that was offered for them to eat today. We are bracing for very cold, very windy conditions this week. (Expecting below zero (F) at night actual temperature, and they say around -25 t0 -35 (F) wind chill... day time temps don't sound much better.) I can't imagine how these small creatures survive conditions like that. And I can't imagine I'll be outside with my camera too terribly much. Today was cold enough for me! That wind cut right through my heaviest outerwear. BURRRRR!
Stay warm if you're in a cold zone... Enjoy the warmth if you're not. :)
