"Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!"
The first "Ouch!" was the claw on my face. The second "Ouch!" was my stomach being a used as a trampoline. The third "Ouch!" - the one that made me wake up fully - was a bite on the elbow. Whisky pulled all the punches to ensure breakfast was going to happen sooner rather than later.
The cat's hunger anxiety was explained by the absence of Fred and the lack of an empty cat food pouch in the bin (I'm good at playing the "has the cat been fed or is he chancing it" detective). It was sunny so Fred must have gone for a walk and, for some reason, let the cat starve and take it out on me. The cat was soon happy with his food and I caught the train to meet Fred by the seaside.
It's always lovely to wander along Brighton's Laines to the sea and hear the waves hiss through the pebbles. There were a few jet-skiers enjoying some air time by the Palace Pier and many people on the pier watching their moments of fun. We walked back to the station before the rain set in - a flying visit to clear the cobwebs.
There were more cobwebs to clear at home and I got stuck into some serious cleaning and sorting. It was made bearable by listening to a TED podcast. Here are the full talks:
- What We Learn Before We're Born - newborns cry with the accents of their parents and recognise theme tunes of programmes their mothers listened to while pregnant
- Children Can Learn Without Adults - children using a computer placed in an Indian slum learned how to use it without any guidance
- Every Child Needs A Champion - praise every success rather than highlight failures. Even two out of twenty is two correct answers - success opens the mind; failure shuts it down.
