villeperdrix
Had a great wander around a little village nearby today: Villeperdrix. Pierre had seen a poster saying the church in the village would be open every Saturday until the end of February so people could go and see the crèche. There would also be a lady playing the organ. And, sure enough, we arrived right on time to hear the music start.
We had a look at the impressive crèche (for such a tiny wee church!) and then sat down to listen to the music. The nice lady came down to speak to us after a while. She told us all about the crèche (who assembles it, who makes the cork models etc.), showed us pictures of previous years in the church, and just generally conversed with us. She asked me where I was from and then went back to the organ and started playing the traditional Christmas songs I'd be used to: Silent Night, Jingle Bells, Good King Wenceslas...so kind!
The organ lady is on the left here, looking through one of the church folders of photos to show us. The lady on the right was another visitor, just like us. Pierre is kneeling down on the far right, leaving a note in the little book. We also paid for a postcard with a recipe for ravioles on it. They're like ravioli, only smaller. Can't wait to try and make them!
Had chicken and mushroom casserole for dinner followed by the finale of Breaking Bad. A pretty good day!
