La fin des vacances de Noël

The end of the holidays is always depressing. That back to work/back to school feeling slowly creeping up on your Sunday afternoon as you realise it's time to take down the decorations and get back to reality. Today the streets of Ixelles were full of abandoned Christmas trees. Stripped of their decorations, they were discarded onto doorstops and pavements, signalling to all who strolled by that Christmas is over. Time to go back to work. This could have been a depressing sight, but for me, it signified the beginning of a new year. A new start. A time to refresh after the lethargy of too much food, drink and laziness. Tomorrow morning will be my first day in a new internship, in a new city... I can't wait.
