Xmas continues

Best story from last night: the Frenchman who smuggled a 12 kilo Corsican ham through Turkey and into Baghdad so his Ambassador wife could have it for Christmas (she had asked for 'some ham', imagining a packet of prosciutto or bacon).

Best and worst story: the career international diplomat who resigned his very senior posting when his efforts to have another member of his organization outed and sacked - after discovering he had actively participated in genocides in Africa - were stone-walled. He's now writing a book exploring how evil is allowed to flourish.
