Singing In The Rain

DDW's January Challenge Day 4: "Scratchy"

An original 1952 78 rpm copy of Gene Kelly's 'Singing In the Rain' from the MGM of the film with the same name. Thought it was a fitting choice for the topic of Scratchy and sums up the weather we are currently experiencing.

Hitchin for breakfast this morning. The Hatters cafe which was something of a pleasant surprise, serving up a pretty darned good full English breakfast with tea for under a fiver. Getting there was fraught with challenges though:

~ The rain - we had to man up and get a bit wet. We did have an umbrella, but it advertises Embassy cigarettes (was part of the collection of paraphernalia in dad's house when we cleared it 3 years ago) and neither of us was keen to put it up

~ The furniture store - that has a leather tub chair that I've had my eye on for ages. I go in each week to see if its been reduced. Today it was, but it was still twice the asking price of our 3 seater sofa. I haggled a further reduction of £150. I was so flushed with success I brought 2. Dad would have been pleased. His philosophy was 'its not what you've spent, its what you've saved'. Explains why his house was so full of crap paraphernalia when he died.

Also brought lots of skin care products. I'm going to pamper myself over the next 3 weeks. It's compensation to my body for what it is going to be put through over this period.
