I Was There

I returned to my Silver Sneakers Circuit class at the Y today after a long absence due to a variety of health challenges last year, and really enjoyed the all-over exercise it provides. I even put in a few minutes on the treadmill beforehand, as Phil and I carpooled to the Y, and he needed to be there earlier than my class began.

And before I used the treadmill, I had a little bimble in the block where the Y is located, looking for blip possibilities. When I looked at my photos this afternoon, I kept coming back to this one -- probably because I really like that WTA (Whatcom Transit Authority) bus with the leaves painted on it, and the classic look of the Herald building, built in 1926.

I feel very grateful today to live in a place that currently is having temperate weather, compared to what many are enduring in the UK and in the northeastern regions of the United States and Canada. Take care, all of you in those wild weather areas!

(I've been meaning to share "The Writer's Almanac" here, as so many of us love words and literary history. It's a daily brief show featuring Garrison Keiller on American Public Media; I used to listen to it on the radio when I was working and commuting, but now I enjoy the printed version at my desk. There's always a poem -- today a wonderful Mary Oliver one, "Mindful" -- and interesting historical information for the date, usually involving books or significant events. I highly recommend it!)
