All of Equal Worth

Flowers are over-rated, visually. Their often over-the-top colouration is awarded too much attention. What about the plant supporting the flower? It's done all the hard work but the little show-off bit at the top gets all the praise. Decomposing flowers are also hard-done-by. They are accused of being sickly and depressing-looking. They are associated with death and sadness. There is a limit to the metaphors for human life able to be drawn from plant life. This was reached some time ago.

This plant is not dead. The flower is beginning to decompose. The plant no longer needs the structure. The components of the flower will be used again or released for eventual use by another organism. This is apparently not good enough for some people.
