New town matrons, maidens and queens were in Stockbridge this morning for Shelter Scotland's January sale where many bargains were to be had.

"It's a bit rough" said a shopper "not quite on a par with Waitrose reducing the turkeys on Christmas Eve though"

Word was the sale was hoochin with dealers buying cheap to sell the booty on later.
