Evening rush-hour - Durrus

Another foul day weather-wise. Gales all night and through the day. We went to visit friends Robert and Finola but had to make a detour because the coast road was washed out after a high tide surge was forced into the bay by the SW winds. Even inland where the bay ends, seaweed and pebbles were strewn all over the place. I don't recall seeing it this bad in the eleven years we have been here.

Anyway, after a very enjoyable lunch and chat around Robert and Finola's cosy new woodburner, we headed back as the skies cleared a little. This was the busy scene in our nearest village, which as you can see was jammed solid with traffic.

I took this sitting in the car while herself went for a newspaper. This may look calm but the wind was still fearsome - there was no way I was getting out!
