Mantis

I've always liked these wee beasties. This one is on the swan plant which is great because it'll hunt the orange aphids that can infest this plant, so keeping the plant healthy which is great news for the monarch butterfly caterpillars that feast on it's leaves.

I cropped the shot, switching from landscape to portrait and getting in a bit closer than my lens would allow, since I neglected to take my macro out in to the garden with me. I also sharpened it and tinkered with the contrast before giving it an 'antique' overlay.
