The Beach
A minor diversion this morning on the way to the airport....the beach. One of our colleagues had flown from New Zealand (probably not via CDG as he got here!) and wanted to see the Med....Well this is it on an unremarkable day. That said, lots of people sunbathing, reading and generaly on holiday (Grrrrh!)
Midly interestingly, New Zealand sounds an idylic place to live, very little crime (one of the things John was concerned with visiting a European capital) and very friendly people. The only concern was getting burnt to a frazzle due to the UV, 10-15 minutes really brought it home!
Onto the final chapter in a continuing saga...Air Chance (you know the french lot!). Today was delayed (obviously), however a new reason...wait for it
GEORGE W BUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know it may seem surprising but since 911 (you know the New York thing) the sky is only big enough for one Aeroplane when G Dubba is flying. Thus we missed our connection in Paris. Now OK you may say, the safety of a world leader may be paramount (even one whose politics you don't agree with.... please don't comment on this as we all know he is quite stupid in some people's eyes). However since him flying into rome was in the press days before hand, AF could have changed the bookings the day before (or even the day of the flight). No. I was moved to 9.30 (a 5 hour wait in F2 CDG), however thanks to the best employee of AF (an Italian) he got us onto the 6.15 flight (time for a beer and a horray). So there ends the saga..
....but, let it be posted here, should I ever book or someone try to book me a AF flight again (unless dire emergencies arise....i.e. I cannot get home any other way and it is the only only only method of transport without spending £10 million to get home .... you get the idea) then the booker (me or otherwise) can be beaten to death with a teaspoon. This is not just a normal beating to death, no it must take place in Terminal F2 of CDG and take at least 12 hours to meter out the punishment. I think you may get the drift!
