Friends....
Four girlfriends who bonded in their early days of primary school. One was sporty enjoying athletics and swimming, two were learning instruments while the other was gifted in art. Their lives entwined through their interests and school life as their friendship grew. There were many sleepovers and birthdays to be celebrated with lots of giggles and mischief as young girls do.
Girlfriend A left our small town with her family to move to the city. Every school holidays the foursome would meet for more sleepovers, mall visits, coffee dates and of course going to the movies, young girls enjoying each others company with many fun times to be had.
Since finishing their school days they've gone in different directions, Girlfriend J is in the UK, Girlfriend C has been between Auckland and Christchurch and Girlfriend A and Girlfriend E are both in Christchurch, they Skype, text and facebook one another regulary.
It was late November when Girlfriend C was rushed to hospital and Girlfriend A and Girlfriend E were by her side. Girlfriend C was brave, strong and courageous laughing with her friends, no matter what was in store for her she remained bright, optimistic always with a twinkle in her beautiful brown eyes and hearty laugh, she was an inspiration to all her knew her.
On this hot summer day with a nor'west wind blowing family and friends gather to remember Girlfriend C, it was to have been her 21st birthday today but sadly she passed away on Christmas Day. Girlfriend A and Girlfriend E have been helping the family to arrange this special day, they are singing 'Count On Me' by Bruno Mars and Girlfriend J in the UK is releasing 21 little yellow ducks into the Thames.
Girlfriend C was a girl who always had a passion for life and a desire to beat the odds, was a fun, caring, encouraging friend and will remain in everyone's hearts.
Peace
Girlfriends J, A, C, E
