Gran Via de les Cortes Catalanes

Gran Via, apart from having beautiful buildings like this, is lined with hundreds of stalls in the lead up to Kings' Day and is busiest and most enjoyable in the evening. You can buy just about anything and they're all open late....Spanish late......till 11pm or midnight. We always enjoy the atmosphere, mainly because we've already 'done' Christmas and don't feel under pressure to buy. On the Eve of Kings' Day on the 5th of Jan the stalls are open till about 2am and it's packed but relaxed, with all ages out and about. Most other shops and shopping centres are open till midnight. Who says the Spanish are late and last minute ;-)

Remember to look up though to appreciate the architecture!
