Malmesbury Abbey and the unusal gravestone.

Lovely sunlight streaming through the windows at Malmesbury Abbey. Nice to see the sun after all the rain yesterday. Interesting story about one of the graves in the Abbey graveyard. Poor Hannah Twynnoy was the first person in Britain to be killed by a tiger. Hannah was a maid working at the White Lion Inn during the early 18th century. When a travelling circus came to visit in the town, it brought with it a tiger, a rare attraction at the time. Hannah reputedly teased the tiger, despite warnings from its keeper, and it eventually broke free from its shackles and killed her.
