Bognor Pier

A walk along the promenade at Bognor Regis before lunch to blow out the cobwebs and enjoy the unseasonably warm sunshine. Deb and I were surprised at how many people were out and flanning about! The wet stones and puddles indicated that the tide must have been just on the turn and evidence of the recent stormy weather was to be seen in the piles of shingle, flotsam and jetsam strewn randomly along the seafront pavement. The low sun reflected off the water and back up to the underside of the scudding clouds to make a glaring, ultraviolet, squinty light. A hint of spring already on its way! This shot of the ever-dwindling pier has been unashamedly modified in Photoshop with a Nik filter but I hope it portrays a feeling of how grand it used to be many years ago before the elements took their toll.
