Clematis cirrhosa

Doing it's thing.

Raised from seed collected in Spain by a friend, this is an untidy scrambler here. It is planted with a late summer/autumn flowering Clematis orientalis so as Clematis cirrhosa flowers through the winter and early spring, the feature is interesting for most of the year. There are a few named forms in cultivation, perhaps the best known is Freckles which has flowers smothered in dark pink spots.
