Maid in Wales

Life at the Grand.

Blue sky for some of the day. We went to Porthcawl this morning for ( surprise surprise )a trip to the hobby shop. I went up to the town to do some shopping which was limited, as there aren't many shops there. I walked up to the front and took this photo of The Grand Pavilion. It was built in 1932. The Pavilion with it's octaganal dome and striking frontage has dominated the Porthcawl seafront for 70 years .Originally intended for a Palm Court, the Pavilion has always operated as a multifunctional venue.
Capable of holding 643 in the Main Hall and 80 in the Stage Door, the Pavilion's flexible space allows for all types of function. Today, it's operations cover a huge range of functions, including Conferences, Weddings, as well as Comedy , Variety, Theatre and Musicals. In addition to these " One Nighters" the Grand Pavilion hosts a four week Pantomime.
The venue now boasts a spacious cafe bar, with a splendid views of the Promenade and Bristol Channel where patrons can enjoy pre theatre drinks.
Needless to when J picked me up later he had bought a carrier bag full of train paraphenalia. He spent the afternoon working on the base, which is now complete. Now the fun begins. I can't wait .( Can you feel the sarcasm in that last sentance?)
