Always inconstant...

Breaking dawn

Pitch, darkness that swells from cold damp places, that oozes from the mire and drags you down, destroys your soul.....that's what it felt like this morning. All around the only light came from burning bright headlights cutting swathes through the fields or single spots of glowing warmth from houses that were awake. The road, more empty than usual, appeared only in my headlights, not in its normal snaking tail light redness. I felt small in my car.

By the time I had parked and was on my bike the sky had awoken. Wispy clouds hung motionless, turning gentle hues as the sun peered over the horizon. Swans with their heads tucked into their backs began to move and stretch elegantly, ducks quaked and flapped wings to get the morning going.

And here am I, standing alone, watching the day break, birth and death, as night slips to its grave day bursts forth...wondrous.

Isn't it a wonderful thing....you have no idea of what might happen?!
