New Years Day

However much I love Christmas and the general run up to it all it is still a hard month for both my own parents and my hubby's. Over the past few years we have lost grandparents throughout December. New Years day is particular hard for me as my Gran died on this day 4 years ago.

I have so many good memories of both my Gran and Grandpa and I look back fondly on my childhood visits to them and I am so grateful that I have these. It is important to me and my hubby that our children have those special moments and memories of their grandparents.

We raised a glass to absent family last night with a bottle of champagne. The picture is of me (on the right with short hair!) with my parents/sister and my grandparents . It is a cherished photo as it is one of the few that has all my family included and was taken not long before my Grandpa became very ill.

I am always sad to say goodbye to the old year but I am looking forward to what the new year will bring.
