Molten

There are many traditions that are part and parcel of New Year's Eve here in Germany, in no particular order here is a (by no means comprehensive) list
- filled donuts (Berliners) abound, my personal favourite is the Baileys cream one
- the watching of the (incredibly old) British 'comedy' "Dinner for One", it gets shown almost continuously on multiple channels
- fireworks in the road at midnight, you take your life quite literally in your own hands
- fortune telling with molten lead otherwise known as 'bleigießen', you melt a hollow lead shape in a spoon over a candle, pour molten lead into cold water and then analyse the resulting shape...mine was a boat (or maybe a banana, but banana wasn't offered as an answer) which denotes travel...
