Biggar bonfire

Sydney has its fireworks over an iconic bridge. Dubai has opulence. Edinburgh has amazing fireworks, bands, partying. New York has Times Square.

Biggar has a huge bonfire in the main street with music coming out of the nearest hotel. The tradition goes back to medieval times. Apart from World War II when they lit a candle in a tent. The tradition is said to drive away evil spirits and let the new year begin afresh.
