New Year 2014

Happy New Year, blippers! As Hogmanay celebrations go, last night was an absolute delight!

I spent the evening in the same group of 20 neighbours as last year, minus a daughter or two, plus two new neighbours and a boyfriend, whose ages range from 5 to 84, now that we're all a year older.

This time the children everyone seemed to be rowdier and naughtier, and there was some competitive shooting of party poppers between the two tables once the dinner was over. Fortunately the squirting of water pistols between one of the lads and the 50+ 'boy' beside me didn't get out of hand, but it was a close call.

Once the bells had rung, the champagne sipped and the kisses and handshakes exchanged, we went our separate ways and I was home not much later than planned.

Today my plan to go to Troon for lunch has been scuppered by the weather, so it's been extremely quiet and restful.
