Gadwalls

I passed a flock of ducks on a pond on my way into Pleasure House Point this morning. I really didn't look at them, assuming they were mallards, a very common duck around here. As I passed the pond again on my way back to the car, it occurred to me that the mallards were all females, something I've never seen before. So, I took a closer look at them and saw they were gadwalls, a duck I rarely see on the southern end of the Lynhaven Basin.
