Vaulting

Lying flat on the floor in the middle of the chancel I thought I was probably not the first to do this in Tewkesbury Abbey and probably not the last either! Not many people about and if spotted possibly thought to be a member of some dodgy religious cult till the camera became apparent. Balancing the camera on my nose seemed the easiest way at the time of getting a good shot of the amazing vaulting high up in the roof. I just love the stunning colours - quite magnificent!

Later it appeared that a far easier way was to take a shot in an angled mirror in the nave which reflected the ornate bosses depicting the life of Christ. The boss in this image shows the nativity. Detail that you would otherwise miss being so high up.
