A Day At A Time.

Birthday Girl

Today is Jac's birthday. After some prezzie opening first thing, we set off for the slopes again and true to the forecast, the sun shone from a cloudless blue sky all day. Even with plenty of sunblock on we could feel the sun burning our cheeks, with a little help from a gentle breeze.

In the evening we went down to the bar called Crescendo at the bottom of the chairlift. I worked out why it was so called, as our ears were blasted by the loud music. However, someone thoughtfully turned it down a bit as we increased the average age of the clientele by a few years.

We had a couple of vinos sitting by a roaring log fire, before emerging into the bitter cold (forecast -8 tonight), in search of something different from the Monachil's half board.

The birthday girl wanted chicken, so we quickly entered a restaurant with pollo on the menu. Taking off our coats, we nearly put them back on again, as the temperature was chilly to say the least.

And the chicken was served raw with a hot stone for us to cook it ourselves. Now I can see the point of this, if you want to ensure your solomillo is cooked just right, but why chicken? I prefer my chicken to be cooked beyond the salmonella stage and as the stone cooled quickly, I was doubtful this would be achieved. It seemed an expensive way of doing the chef's job for him.

All good fun though. And we managed the half hour walk back up the mountain to our hotel, with the freezing air hurting our lungs, without the need for emergency stops, so I think we are OK!

Last day tomorrow. The forecast is for some high cloud, so it should be another cracker day for skiing.
