New Year's cookies

the gingerbread cookie, as well as this kind of icing, was never a tradition of greece, but it seems to be a part of the globalised interconnected world we live in - it's a very different kind of cookie to regular greek christmas cookies, but it seems to have its place on any christmas table these days, especially western and cold-christmas countries due to the combination of warming spices and the bright colurs used in the decorations (they brighten up the glumness of short days and long dark nights)

my daughter mixed the dough, cut the cookies, made the icing and decorated them all by herself - she's getting quite independent in her cooking
