Weston old pier from Sand Bay

Whilst the rest of the family struggled with a bad case of Cantgetoffthesofitus, I took Flo for a long walk along the beach and up through Weston woods to the old pier and back again. It was a new experience for both of us. I've never been to Sand Bay before, it's 20 miles from Bristol, and not exactly a Mediterranean paradise even at the height of summer. The extreme tides of the Bristol Channel make for brown waters, and dangerous mudflats, which don't normally entice me to the rocky shores hereabouts. But as Christmas becomes a memory, and we prepare to say goodbye to 2013, a long contemplative stroll near open sea was needed, and this was just the ticket.
