Six month-iversarry cake!

Today marked six months of marriage, and by coincidence we found the top layer of our wedding cake, carefully wrapped in foil and hidden away in a cupboard behind some cups and plates at my in-laws.
Tradition goes that wedding cake can be kept until the birth of the first child I believe (?) but tradition also goes that a wedding cake is a fruit cake. Our top layer was a sponge cake and on close inspection smelled decidedly fermented.
The pins holding in the decorative lace had gone a little bit rusty as well, so we ended up still never having eaten any of our own wedding cake. How sad.

Very nice weekend though, and the festivities go on and on as we head back to work for a couple of days before bringing in 2014..
